The Love Within You

“The love within you will always bring you home."

- Cleo Wade

On a day where the topic of love is all around us, I invite you to notice how you are sharing love with yourself.

I recently started an 8-month journey to complete my 300h Yoga Teacher Training. Part of this path is immersing myself in yogic wisdom through practice, reading, discussion, reflection, and more. One of the ethical principles that I feel particularly called to share on a day focused on love is the concept of Ahimsa or Nonviolence. In Deborah Adele's book The Yamas & Niyamas: Exploring Yoga's Ethical Practice, she beautifully explores one of the aspects of nonviolence, self-love.

Deborah shares “How we treat ourselves is in truth how we treat those around us… Only when we find this love for all the parts of ourselves, can we begin to express fully the love that wells up inside of us for others."

What part of you is needing more love?

When we are more compassionate, loving, and joyful with ourselves, it radiates out to the world. If we are overly critical, judgmental and hard on ourselves, others feel that from us as well, intended or not.

I hope you find time today and every day to tap into that compassionate part of yourself and give yourself the love that you need and deserve.
