How It Started

Almost a year ago, I pivoted career in the pursuit of something new. My 11+ years in various corporate positions (accounting, finance, and people leadership & development) brought me tremendous growth, experience, and life-long connections that I cherish greatly.Â
Sometimes life calls us in new directions, and when we hear it, it feels like we have no choice but to listen. I've described this to many as the idea of a train passing by, bringing with it a visceral feeling of missing out on something great if I didn’t jump aboard, even if at the time I wasn't sure where this train was going. Leaving behind stability and a role that brought a healthy balance of challenge and fulfillment, I made a difficult decision to take the year to reflect, explore, create, and realign, seeking joy and working to release any expectations of where these experiences would or "should" lead me.Â
This choice and opportunity to take time for myself brought many gifts - I spent meaningful time with family and friends, travelled to Costa Rica for a month to complete my 200h Yoga Teacher Training, studied with inspiring individuals through the Brown University School of Professional Studies' Leadership and Performance Coaching Certification program, volunteered, explored passions like gardening which led to the creation of an organic garden that is still feeding family, friends and neighbors, pursued a dream of living at the beach, co-led a retreat with my mom and close friends, created friendships and community through teaching and practicing yoga, completed my first sprint triathlon, began coaching my first clients, started an LLC, and more. Even as I list this out, it’s difficult to fully articulate how significant the gift of time has been for me this year.Â
Among the learnings + unlearnings, joy + fear, trial + error(s), I created the beginnings of a new leadership coaching and wellness company, Halcyon with Hudson, LLC. For me, it's the perfect intersection to leverage my corporate leadership experience, coaching training and experience, the yogic wisdom I continue to lean farther into, and my deep passion for helping individuals create space to tap into their highest potential that I believe is accessible within each of us.
I'm excited for what the rest of 2024 entails - continuing with my private coaching clients, speaking at a women's brunch around the benefits of understanding and living into values, partnering with a friend and mentor to speak to leaders in a corporation about well-being in the workplace, planning and co-leading a retreat centered around tapping into joy, teaching more yoga, and continuing to grow a new business!
While the year held highs and lows, I've learned that making bold choices in favor of my peace, joy, and well-being result in the biggest rewards. I've also learned that these big decisions often take me down the more exciting and expansive paths, even if they sometimes bring fear and challenge initially. For anyone feeling like it’s time to take a chance on yourself, know that I am here cheering you on from the sidelines always willing to connect, share, and learn together!
